Cheating on the Fly

Postby Artin » January 16th, 2012, 10:03 am

Got this from another board thought it was pretty funny and you guys would enjoy it.... Even though we try to help people understand how to fly fish and the paitence and practice will be rewarded, some people just are not cut out to fly fish I guess....

Enjoy,

Edit: Did I mention my 2 buddies and I outfished everyone using jigs, spinners and bait @ Isabella using a "fly" of all things! By the way, you guys need to get out there and talk to Guy at the Shop. He'll point you in the right direction. If you get a chance go on is boat and fish with him.... It's been fun....

I'm not elitist, but I do have an expectation that if you are going to post your thoughts, at least exhibit enough intelligence to spell correctly. Clearly, the guy iz wut he iz.

This line was what caught my eye most of all, "going back tommorrow, for more abuse.ill have the corn, in case someone accidently chums" "Accidentally chums," my butt. Clearly the guy is just another poacher more interested in catching than the art of catching. Whatever. To each his own.

Btw, wasn't this the same board where that Cpt'n Tahoe guy boasted about killing all of those big goldens?

This guy is just the tip of the iceberg. A segment of the next generation has no idea how to compose a sentence. Guys like that will be stocking shelves and take out the trash for the rest of their lives. And I doubt he even owns a fly rod!

Chumming.... I thought the point of fishing and hunting was the challenge of outsmarting millions of years of evolution that created life which instinctively knows to recognize danger.... I mean if they want to make it that easy why not hit the trout ponds?

By the way Jon, That site is not the one Capin' Crunch posted on.... That board is more of a So. Cal site which I frequent to catch up on the striper bites... There are a bunch of lure fishermen on there who are actually pretty good about it.

I don't mind them fishing bait at all.... Most if not all those fish are recent stockers.... gonna end up as striper food anyway  Just pointing out how fly fishing is not for everyone....They will do what they've been doing and teaching their kin to do the same..... No apparent desire to challenge oneself. I always tried to challenge myself... when things got too easy I lost interest and I stumbled upon fly fishing. I must admit though, in the beginning I would not catch anything and get frustrated and turn to my spin gear and bait and get some. I had to discipline myself and leave the spin gear and bait at home to push myself to learn to fly fish. I had many many many days of stinking like a skunk on the water.... but the persistence paid off and now I have not fished with bait in many a moons.... I actually think I catch better and more fish with the fly rather than bait. That's just me.... I enjoy the challenge of fly fishing. Keeps me on my toes trying to figure out what I can do to better myself.... It's a never ending learning process for me. That's something I could never achieve with bait. Salmon eggs on the Kern, crickets on the Owens, sardines and squid in the salt.... after a while it was just flat out boring... Not totally but I needed something more.... hence the mighty fly!

"rigged the 3wt powell mini drop shot with chartuse powerbait trout worms."

Self explanatory...There were no REAL Powell fly rods after 1997:

"After watching everyone catching trout around me. At the pudd hole ,trying to stay on the fly fishfishing code of eithics.throwing all patterings ,known to man, an not catching crap. I take a few power bait floating eggs, yellow ,and flame colored, from a cohart, and start getting hit every cast.on the 5wt. Rigged ,with the mini carolina rig, with an indicator.* the purest.i love fighting fish ,with a fly rod,and use any flys if there working.if everyones catching, and im not catching.im going to the dark side.using unconvetional methouds, using the fly rods.that includes ,corn for carp, robo plasic,4.5 inch worms, free lined for bass on the 8wt,dropshotted bass trix ,and gulp drop shotted 2 inch camos worms, for any thing swimming in the salt or fresh water with my flyrod setups.go on line ,and see plastic worms on the fly.i dont feel so guilty using my fly rods in unconventional situations....mike the pmb......"

One of the best examples of being unable to compose a sentence. Or spell. Or use a comma. Or capitalize correctly. Or use an apostrophe. Or spacing. Or…

Could anyone make that many mistakes in a single post with out actually trying? This guy cannot be that stupid. Can he?
How do you tie the fly to your hooks without killing them with the thread? I keep cutting them in half.

Yep. There is a whole bunch of them on that site that will make your hair curl. At least they got rid of the Avatars with the gangster pointed an animated automatic in your face and celebrating the "ninja" deal of breaking into places to fish late at night where it was illegal. It's fun to go there and be thankful we have this place.
