New Fly Fisherman in the Family!

Postby beachbum » February 20th, 2012, 3:44 pm

My daughter Patty, who lives in London, gave birth to my new grandson Benjamin today. Hey, maybe I can get him one of those midget 00wt rods that are so popular :)

Congrats to you and your daughter. Sounds like a trip to one of the famous English streams and to visit your family is in order.

Congratulations, Bill! Very cool.

I have one of the trainer casting rods from Echo that Tim posted the pic of and they are great for giving someone a feel for casting. I used one with my dad up in Redding a couple summers back and he seemed to get it fairly quick. It seemed to translate the next day with an actual rod too.
How do you tie the fly to your hooks without killing them with the thread? I keep cutting them in half.

Congrats G-pops Bill. I know you'll have as much fun with you grandson as I do with mine. Grand kids are great in my book. To be honest I dropped a few tears of joy at the first glance of my grandson.
