My one of a kind anniversary gift

Postby Troutinator » March 13th, 2012, 8:54 pm

I just returned home today from a two week business trip to Key West and my wife, Denise, surprised me with a great grilled t-bone dinner as well as an early anniversary gift. Our 19th anniversary isn't until tomorrow, but the mood was right, you know what I mean? First off, she designed this one of a kind anniversary card which I think is awesome then presented me with with this professionally framed, one of a kind print, that she free hand drew herself. I knew that she was a talented artist, but this brown trout just blew me away. The framing was actually done at Michael's, but it's her print. I suggested a golden trout framed print for the rendezvous and she is considering it.

Just look at the details. She took the colors from actual photos of Lower Owens brown trout that she caught herself last year.

Of course, I also had a surprise gift for her that I picked up at a fishing store in Islamorada, FL, just 80 miles north of Key West. It's a 5wt, 9', Sage Vantage outfit. I think she's extremely happy with her gift and I'm sure she's very anxious to use it. Oh, and I'm sure it's "hands off" for me.

How do you tie the fly to your hooks without killing them with the thread? I keep cutting them in half.

What a great painting! I love the detail, even the refraction of the ripples on the water's surface look real.
Congratulations!

That is such a cool gift! your wife "gets it." What was her medium? Looks like she airbrushed the dots. I really like the card too. She put a lot of time and thought into it. You're a lucky man Scott!
Happy A to the both of you.
