North Coast

Hey Everyone, I'm up in Fort Bragg (CA not NC) for a job interview. I'm trying to recon the area and I kinda want to fish my way back. Anyone know much about the area or have any suggestions about who I could contact? I'm really hoping it's not as bad as "Rivers of a Lost Coast" made it out to be.

Assuming you're coming up soon for your interview, outside of warmwater frseh water fishing, there isn't much available in fresh water at this time of the year in the immediate area. You're between the steelhead and salmon seasons. The salt is your best bet, but caution, the NorCal surf is much more unfriendly and cold than SoCal surf. Personally, I wouldn't even bring a rod, and just play tourist instead with the world class wineries and coastal views.

you could hit Putah Crk on your way back.

The air temps will be roasting yet the water will be cold.
