Sac River Salmon suggestions

Postby Troutinator » September 4th, 2012, 6:33 pm

Heading up to Discovery Park in Sac for some salmon fishing with a friend who knows the area very well, growing up there with dad and fishing for salmon on both Sac and the American. We're leaving on Thursday after work and spending the night at a motel before launching my boat for a full day on both rivers. We're bringing an assortment of gear, including a fly rod, but to be honest, I wouldn't have a clue what I was doing with a fly rod on either river for salmon. If anyone can chime in some suggestions, it would be appreciated. As of now, we'll probably be trolling Quikfish and whatever else salmon fishermen use. If tossing a fly on sinking line with my 10wt is an option, I would appreciate the tips now before we head out on Thursday. Thanks.

Plastic beads.

A couple Octobers back we hooked salmon with orange beads under an indicator with a small PT as the trailer for big bows to hit.

The Fly Shop can show you the rig setup.
