Michael Maloney @ The Spot Sunday February 1st

Are you frustrated with your casting? Do the fish always seem to be rising just a few feet further than you can cast? Are you a beginning caster who is interested in getting a great start in this crazy sport? Are you a really good caster who wants to get better? If your answer is yes to any of these questions then you need to be here at Fishermen's Spot on Sunday February 1st, 2009 from 10am-2pm (yes, I know it's Super Bowl Sunday but the game doesn't start 'til 3pm so you have time to cast). There is no charge for this event and we encourage you to bring freinds who are interested in getting started in fly casting. Bring your own gear or use ours.

Michael Maloney is a nationally recognized fly casting instructor who has been fly fishing for 52 years and teaching for over 30 years. He is best known as the“teacher’s teacher”. Spending substantial time helping fly shop staff, professional fly-fishing instructors, fresh and salt water guides on how to become better communicators, teachers and businessmen for their clients. His favorite time though, is spent with the non-professionals; his beginner to advanced students. He is the author of numerous articles on casting and is the co-author of the “ Pocket Guide to Fly Casting with Michael Maloney”.
Michael is equally at home in fresh or salt water. He has been fly fishing in freshwater since 1956 and the saltwater since 1960. While he has caught and released golden trout to striped marlin on a fly rod, the greatest joy for him has been in teaching people how to cast. “Nothing relaxes me more than to just go out and help someone with their casting”. Michael was not always so relaxed. Several years ago, his grandfather, a prominent international sportsman, cautioned him after realizing his grandson was taking fly fishing too seriously, to just “enjoy your surroundings, and if a fish accidentally gets on your line, well, consider it a pleasant nuisance. Better yet, go out and help someone to learn what you already enjoy!” He wisely took his grandfather’s advice.

Stop by the Spot and get tuned up.
