The Bakersfield-based Kern River Fly Fishers club has an active mentorship program. It's a great way to meet folks while improving your fly fishing skills. In the winter months we get together once a month to increase our fly tying skills. Once Daylight Savings kicks in we move outdoors to Hart Park to practice casting and other fishing-related skills.
The Mentorship program meets the third Thursday of each month
Our first casting session will be April 15th at Mirror Lake which is the small pond at the west entrance of Hart Park. I know this is tax day so come relieve some stress and do some casting. Our starting time will be 6:30 pm and we will be doing some teaching on wading safely. Bring your wading staffs and we will talk about the different types. You don’t have a wading staff? This could be your most important item behind eye glasses to protect your eyeballs.
Come out and join us.
