Yellowstone Angler 2016 5WT Reel Shootout

Postby FlyKastr » April 19th, 2016, 2:10 pm

The YA 2016 5WT Reel Shootout is out. These shootouts are an interesting read to me, regardless of bias or flaw. They provide certain comparison data and insight that’s not available elsewhere.

I’m one to admire a well-designed, aesthetically pleasing, quality fly reel and am unable to view them as mere “line holders.” I don’t own the top models, but appreciate the knowhow and effort required to produce them. As others had mentioned, there’s just something about a perfected fly reel.

Yes, I’m one of those newbies that gets excited over this stuff.

I haven't thoroughly read any of the recent Yellowstone Anglers Shootouts recently, but I do like looking at the results, and scan over some of the info. I used to read them from start to finish. I have a soft spot for reels.

My name is briansII, and I am a recovering gearwhore.
