Finally got out to the Kern when it was 720 CFS. Hit the water with a few friends while teaching a newbie. Though the water at 720 was comfortable where we fished on the upper I have to say the catching was better. I've been dedicating my time to European nymphing and wanted to give it my all that day. The pay off was great. Landed a few natives, some small, some mid sized, but the great time was the water. Even at 720 it was perfect water for pocket fishing. The speed of the water created nice lies behind rocks and boulders that in slower waters didn't generate as much shelter or a conveyer belt of food to attract the fish.
With the waters rising I think the edges will be calling as the flows push the fish out of the main stream or deeper.
The Kern is a great place to fish
