Fished the Kern... Lost my net... caught fish!

Postby fflutterffly » June 13th, 2013, 5:57 pm

Wednesday I was able to pull up 8 very nice fish out of very warm water. My favorite was the 17" sucker fish. I thought I had snagged a moss twig until the moss twig began to move up stream and I saw the beautiful gold. Thought It was a carp, like the fish before, but it turned out to be a nice sucker. (not my favorite fish, but fun.) The rest were Rainbows all under 15" on czech nymph and birds net rig. Water was very warm. I did loss my net on the trail back to where I started and since few walk that trail I might just find it again next week... wednesday. Crossing my fingers. I've had that net 7 years. Regardless it time to hunt for deeper waters where the fish are hunting out the cooler water.

Sorry to hear you lost your net, but look at it this way. You can go back and look for it next week and you might get lucky and find it. If you are not successful, I'll bet Greg can build you one that you'll cherish the rest of your fishing days. :)
By the way, do you still plan on meeting us there? Here is when I'll be there 6/22 through 6/26?

I might still be there. With the water heating up and the fishing slowing way down I'm thinking the great Briny is my best bet for fishing... and it's only minutes from my house. We'll talk on Tuesday.

No Rich, that's what we fish for, but all we ever catch is a few fish.
I fish for my sanity. If I catch it, should I still practice catch and release?

Sorry to hear about a lost net, but from my experience the net accumulation of fishing gear seems to be in the plus category. Glad to hear that the fish are still cooperating. If I didn't have a long trip to Prescott today, I probably would have poked my nose to see if it could be found.

Here's hoping you find the net or a better one.
