Great video! That's what the midge hatch looked like on the San Juan-and the fish were all over it too. All fins and tails.

I'm speechless, I mean how could anyone sit there with a camera and film that. What a waste of valuable fishing time!

But holy cow, that was amazing. wish some of our local creeks were like that. Maybe they will be.


Anyone know what that fly was? Looked like a griffith's gnat (Sweet something I can actually tie) with a red tail on it?

Ray, it is called a Woolly Worm Black.

It is the first fly I ever tied and actually caught a lot of fish in the SG drainage's with it!
It works best with a little tuft of red yarn for the tail.
You can tie them in a variety of body and hackle colors, but the red tail remains!
Remember what I told you about RED.

I still have a lot of them, but I never use them any more.........hmmmmm, I wounder why?

So do I Bob. Why abandon a fly that works for you. Unless it only worked well for yo in the SGs and you don't fish those waters anymore. Hmmm?

Once you invent a great fly like the spongebob caddis it's hard to go back to the old stuff. PS Still haven't fished the one you gave me on July 1st. I came across it recently; it's waiting in my flybox until spring I guess.
