Pay it forward

Postby k9mark » February 6th, 2014, 1:21 pm

I saw this another forum and thought it was a nice idea, so here goes. I know there are many people who have hit hard economic times, many of us included. We can't buy fishing equipment we want or need. Many of us have equipment we no longer need or use and we can't sell it. So, in the spirit of paying it forward, I offer the following to anyone who can use it FREE. I have a 904 Sage Vantage 4wt fly rod that has has only been fished a hand full of times to anyone who would like it, case included. A new fly fisherman, family member, yourself, whatever.

I also saw that on the other forum and thought it was a nice way to redistribute flyfishing stuff that was no longer used to others who'd probably use it--especially kids or those just starting. I hope it works here as it seems to be a nice thing to do.

A huge acknowledgement to K9Mark. I know how difficult Stockton's financial mishaps have been on you. Good karma to you.

I noticed over there is was sort of take something, offer up something that somebody else might like to have/try/use. Seemed to work pretty good since it was started in late November/early December.

I'm sure lots of us have things we could offer up. I'll check my stash tomorrow.

Nice idea. I can't think of anyone off the top of my head - but I hope it finds a good home (and those in need are not to shy to speak-up).
Fish always lose by being "got in and dressed." It is best to weigh them while they are in the water. The only really large one I ever caught got away with my leader when I first struck him. He weighed ten pounds. —Charles Dudley Warner

I gave one of my flyrods to my niece's new husband for Christmas.
That is only the second one I have given away in my lifetime.

Sweet! Thank you again. I'll be sure to post a report. Can't wait to see the look on his face when he catches his first fish on a fly rod!

That's the way I saw it too. You take something that's offered, and then offer something else in return for the next person. Almost like a perpetual swapping of gear. Cool idea!
