Fishing with Big Foot

Trying to keep up with long traveled legs
Stepping in giant footprints, refusing to renege
Up ahead the angler has chartered our next hole
Quickening my stride to match his deep-pressed sole

Anchoring on a gravel niche as the best foothold
Must be a foamy drift where bows all hold
Show me now that flamenco-twitched move
To toss my line out in a smooth rhythmic groove

My young guide shrieks to signal a take
His frame excitedly jolts like a tiny earthquake
And I set my hook with downstream throes
And shortly after my lanky rod bows

His net is in place to lift the crimson striped fish
From its cold wet bath, where the bow could flourish
After short inspection of my temporary catch
The hook is removed and he is quickly dispatched

Both mentor and student spend a moment to beam
Then cast my line out to find a new seam
As the sun warms the air and more fish still team
Bigfoot and I move further downstream.

Each guide has his/her own technique to alert clients about the take. I've been hollered at, shrieked at, hand gestured, seen the shakes, and heard chatter like a cat in the window, ha, ha! Whatever it takes to get us to REACT! It's got to be frustrating for them.
