That is only the second one I have given away in my lifetime.

This post and this thread resonates with me because when I think of generosity and giving things away, just about anything is fine EXCEPT fly rods lol! Despite this, a few years ago a music scene friend on the east coast would not stop grousing about the cost of fly gear so I asked him if he could spare a whopping 50.00. He said yes. On good faith I sent him about 200.00+ dollars of gear knowing that the season opener was coming up. I was sick of seeing him share past photos of fish he caught on conventional gear when I knew fly tactics would be as much fun in the waters he fished. Well, he got the gear and never paid me (musicians!) and against my usual form, I shrugged it off as a good move towards the sport. I think that as long as people are using what is given to them, this could be a fun trend for the sport and the perception thereof.

B,
But did he thank you or ever use the gear? That's what would hurt--if he stiffed you then didn't even use the gear.

I don't think I want any of your friends if they are all like that.

I put three packs in the For Sale or Trade section if anybody has been thinking about trying one of these.
