Since I started using 4wt.s a lot, I skipped up to 6wt for my "big" rods. I have soft and stiff 4wt.s which I use 90% of the time and when I want to launch streamers or reach out consistently to 60+ ft or so, I pull out a stiff 6wt.
So my question that I had to answer was do I need a delicate 6wt.? And I my answer was no.
My favorite dry fly 4wt is a Sage LL, semi-slow and good in a breeze. My faster Orvis Hydros 4t. is typically what I use first but, the bamboo 4wt (Joe Bradley) is a delight to fish with dries. My Helios 6wt launches the big things far and fine.
I really have come to appreciate the Orvis products over the last few years.

"He told us about Christ's disciples being fishermen, and we were left to assume, as my brother and I did, that all first-class fishermen on the Sea of Galilee were fly fishermen and that John, the favorite, was a dry-fly fisherman."
