I was out on the river yesterday, and saw a group of guys doing some questionable things. One guy had a scuba mask on, and some sort of speargun looking thing. Actually, I can't say for sure it was a speargun. I couldn't see it clearly from where I was standing. This was in the C&R section of the river. Anyway, it looked fishy enough for me to call CalTip.
Easter Sunday, I got through to dispatch, and gave them the info. I asked if there was a warden in the area and they didn't know. Shortly after my call, a warden tried calling me, but I didn't have good reception. Once I got his message I called him back. He took the info, and was going to check it out. It's nice knowing they are out there, even on holidays.
I tried getting a chicken pot pie at KFC, but they were closed for Easter.

This was on the FFN website and although they may have a different spin in regards to catch and release they still only keep what is allowed. Here is how they called Caltip and got the bust they were hoping for, it does work, just not as much as we would like I guess.
Dk has been on the hot bite for sure. Called me Wed and talked to me about some troubling harvesting by the poachers.
Since the clear water, wide open bite we've seen over limits and undersized fish being caught. On a relatively small scale so we just shake our head and try to keep our nose out. Hoping Karma will catch up to the poachers.
UNTIL this week! DK has a humungous school in spawn mode at a specific local. Seen guys with multiple 120 at ice chests full... its a flippin harvest going on.
Anyway he called me, asked me to clue in the wardens in bako I have been dealing with in work related setting. I text them, DK calls cal tip.
Both wardens contact us, tell us multiple reports blah blah... we didn't tell them we were in cahoots.
Anyway they planned on taking DK's advise and busted two guys with these yesterday along with multiple others ranging from no license to over limit and undersized
