Sage Warranty

A couple days ago I noticed the cork felt weird on one of my spey rods. Closer inspection showed the upper portion of the cork was loose from the blank. When I wiggled it, I also noticed one of the cork rings had separated all the way around the grip. Sent it back today. I'll report on how long it takes to get it back.

This is the second time I've used Sage's website to handle a warranty claim. I created an account, and can do everything from my PC. I can pay for the repairs, and get a FedEx shipping label printed. I'll get updates on the status of the repairs. Neat deal.

I've also had good luck with Sage warrantee work, but then I haven't sent anything in during the past 5 years or so. I can even remember when it was free. Just pay shipping to Sage.

Good luck with your grip repair.

Update:

Rod was checked in at Sage on 4/16. Today I called to check on progress, fully expecting them to say it would be a couple more weeks. He looked up my repair number, and said the repairs were done! He looked further to find the current status, and said it was in the "shipping que". He said he would go down to shipping to make sure the rod was sent ASAP. It should be here for a trip next weekend. :bananadance: By the way, this was the 2nd time I used Sage's warranty on this particular rod.

Impressed, and grateful.

I've sent four rods to Sage in the last few years and all were fixed for the basic fee in about 4-6 weeks. They replaced an old RP with and RPL and fixed the rest. Seems like pretty good service to me as the RP was close to thirty years old.

I knew I was going to be in Seattle a while back, so, I brought a XP with a broken tip - hoping I would make it over there. Turns out they gave me a full tour (1hr+) and answered all questions. The rod had sentimental value, as my dad wrapped it for me. Sage offered a new XP with the old butt section or two new sections to fix the broken parts. They ended up even giving me a practice section to wrap. Can't speak highly enough about the service I received. Nice rods too.

I'm amazed they still keep the old blanks and material. I have a Graphite III, 8150 "Brownie" that I will eventually have to send in to repair a broken ferrule. I'm told they will roll a new section for it.

That kind of care and service builds lifetime customers.

Final Update:

Rod showed up in Tues. It looks like they replaced the top cork. The lower grips looks to be original. Not sure how they do that, but I'm happy with the repair.
