Info needed: Fresno area, Wildwater

While looking at water parks in Fresno to take the kids to before school starts, I came across info that Wildwater park has fishing ponds on their premises. Does anyone have any info on it? Is it worth fishing? I think I could kill two birds with one stone here because my son has been asking to go fishing lately too.

Huh? I didn't know they allowed fishing? It's been several years since I've been to the park, but there are more than a few private ponds in the general area. If there is water in them, I'm 99.999% sure there are bass and bluegill in them. I think taking some gear would be a good idea.

Thanks Brian. Could you PM me if you know any other locations that I could get my son on some panfish or something easy? We just don't have that in Bakersfield... everything is picked clean. I can't think of one public water that's easy pickings for kids to fish. I work pretty hard for the bass and bluegill I catch in Bakersfield, but maybe I'm doing it wrong.

If i remember correctly (it's been years since i was last visited), there are two or three ponds you walk past/between as you head to the waterslides. i've seen a few people fishing them but never stopped to see if they caught or were catching. it's too hot to stop. the main attraction are the water slides. you could try calling wild water. but this pag makes it sound like they're worth trying.

The park doesn't open until 11 am so we hit it in the afternoon today. Decent ponds, fishing wasn't great though. Landed one small crappie and didn't see any bass. A few bumps on the topwater but I think it was just curious crappie.
