Running outta water

Postby briansII » September 9th, 2014, 10:17 am

More depressing drought news......

This video is circulating on a few forums. The Eel river has stopped flowing. I guess we sorta understand our small creeks drying up, but to see a major river stop flowing............

Earlier this year, I saw my home river(Kings River)stop flowing and dry up in a lower section. Been here all my life, and have never seen that happen.

It rained here for a bit yesterday.

It's tragic. They better see some water here real soon.

The water that should be flowing through there is watering wine grapes. They take the Eel water and divert it to the Russian. It's the same way they take all the h2o from the Trinity and ship it over to the Sac for Westlands et al. The issue is Agriculture.

DESALINATION!

Use the water from desalination for irrigation. Stop using the reservoir water for irrigation. I know it's not the answer to the drought, but it's a step in the right direction to save all of us from a very scary catastrophic water shortage.

I countinue to see a complete disregard for saving water here in SoCal. Idiots watering the sidewalks instead of sweeping. Broken sprinklers spewing water on the freeway.

I'm guilty of watering my lawn. I'm going to let it dry out and plant drought tolerant plants and desert type plants that don't need much water.

I hesitated posting this, because of the message at the end of the video. IMHO, we all have our ideas on water issues, and it's like arguing politics......well, in fact politics and water go hand in hand, so it might be worse than arguing politics.

Anyway, we are in a record drought, and sh#t is drying up!
