They're back online now with new forum software. Looks good, and so far no spam.

I had talked with Chiaki and he had said that this was coming. Looks like they may or may not be able to bring everything current from the archives but will be a good deal once they get all the bugs worked out. The spamm thing is a constant irritation to deal with.

Were you able to login with your old id/password? It won't take mine.
How do you tie the fly to your hooks without killing them with the thread? I keep cutting them in half.

Looks like there is still some work that needs to be done. Most of the posts are pretty old. I imagine that we'll see some improvement as they get everything loaded back into the new format. I am so thankful for our knowledgeable admins.

FYI all,
I went in to update my profile and it got squirrelly on me. It would not allow the update.

fivefish,

Here's your answer to the equation you are having difficulty with:
If you are an IPA snob; the answer depends on how many you have had to drink.
If you are a conservative; the answer is 10.
If you are a progressive; "What difference does it make"
If you are a bowler; it represents the number of pins in a fresh rack.
If you are a basketball player; it is the height from floor to rim.
If you are a Christian; it signifies the number of Commandments in the Bible.
If you are a Jew; it is the number of practitioners required to form a Synagogue.
If you are a Olympic athlete; it is the highest score attainable in an event.
If you are a baseball player; it is the beginning of extra innings.
If you are a mathematician; it is an even natural number.
If you are a politician; it could be either a positive or negative number.
If you are a primate; it represents the number of digits and toes innate to the species.
If you are a physicist; it represents the atomic number 10 (neon) on the periodic table.
If you are a historian; it equals the number of years in a decade.

Hope this helps!

I'm sure I can come up with more if needed.

If you are a conservative; just repeat what your church tells you without question.
If you are a progressive; does not matter as long as everyone gets the same.
I am a 95%er. 95% of people agree on 95% of issues - politics are stupid and divide us.
Fixed it for you... But I agree 100% on your IPA analysis.

I believe what fivefish is referring to is a simple logic question will eliminate spam bots regardless of the spambot's political or religious ideology. However enough good IPAs can make the 5+5 equation a challenge to anyone. :booty:
Cheers! If you got more keep em coming. :Pop:

Man....I never could figure that out. Makes good sense though.

tenandtwo,

Thanks for your thoughts on the matter.

My fix might be a little tougher than you think, since I have not been under the roof of a church in over twenty years except for funeral services and weddings. My church is the great outdoors and my covenants are the laws of nature and common sense.

The concept with the conservative vs.progressive math analogy is that for the conservative there is only one correct answer, whereas math for the progressives (the way it's being taught today) is not a finite discipline anymore, and as long as you get close to the right answer and feel good about yourself you get credit and advance. I had this go-around with my daughter when she went through the public school system in California.

Fivefish's equation, if intended as a spambot logic question bears merit. If it was not intended as a spambot logic question, then I have aided and answered his query.

I'm still unpacking and getting moved in in Idaho, so I have to get back at it.

Regards,

Jeff

I was just pointing out that they added spambot logic. This morning they have spam though so I'm not sure what's going on or if they implemented it successfully.

Not my problem. :Pop:
