I don't go there as a destination, but somehow I end up there when the Henry's Fork flows get out of control and throw the fishing off as they did last week. So, after dealing with 1930 CFM (I'm guessing it was closer to 2300) (gauge unreliable after first release per hydrologist i met at wood road). Highest I have ever seen it!!! Anyway after dealing with deep dirty water for almost a week, I made my way over to the the Green in the campgrounds above Daniel and had a really good couple of days before heading home. Fish up all day as usual. Faster water and after the ranch they seemed way too easy to fool. There are some browns pushing proper big fish sizes above 20" anyway, my biggest was 22" but not this year.. Seems to be less oxygen in the water hence weaker fights than the ranch, but still pretty darn fun!! I never fished it down by flaming gorge but the upper river once it settles down from run-off is always awesome and I even got a grand slam there a few years ago on a float. Yes if you didn't know, there are a few brookies and a few cutthroat in the upper areas. Have fun!!! oh and bring good bug dope I got eaten alive last week..... pics are of the very flooded out Henry's Fork and the 1st fish I landed on my new Joe Bradley Para 13 7'9" 4wt bamboo rod.. Very fun fish... she ate a #18 rusty spinner. Her big brother came unbuttoned 1/2 way in my net on my 3rd attempt to get him in the net about 20 minutes earlier.. such is life!
