I noticed I tended to fish different water than Bruce. He was also mending a lot more than I was.

As for Flybob's suggestion on getting a Gila Trout, good luck! Access to the wild trout areas in NM does not open until late summer. There was an area on one stream that had populations of Gila, Browns, and rainbow, but the hike from the trailhead is from 7-10 miles. Not a day hike unless you are in training to run ultramarathons.

The Gila trout are stocked, but not extensively.

There is a stocked option that is simply and convenient. Let me know if you want more details in a pm.

The Chama was blown out due to flooding and mud when we went. Beautiful country around there. Enjoy (how could you not?).
