I have to say that this is one of my favorite builds of all time! The fact that this tree was as old and storied as it was and such an integral part of the family history made for a very humbling build. My goal was to my goal was to give this build the respect it deserved. I added in a few complementary woods accent gorgeous dark tones of the walnut.
The fact that the tree was even saved into lumber is quite amazing. Good job uncle!

Also know that Curtis and I talked back and forth when he was traveling in Mississippi and he drove that wood all the way to California to drop it off personally to me! The wood itself was classic, clean, and beautifully colored black walnut. It cut and worked like a dream! The handle was sent off for stabilizing before the hoop was glued to it. This means that it will definitely outlast Curtis, and likely anyone who's reading this!

Something Curtis did not mention regarding the above photo of him and Miss Nona is that this was the last time she walked out of her house-to see the new Airstream.
