Thanks for the link, But there is no way you can tie 6x tippet to 40 lb with a blood knot and expect it to hold. A Slim beauty knot would be a much better choice...

Agreed.

Slim Beauty is a good suggestion, but about as strong and even faster is to double the lighter leader, then use that to tie a double surgeon with the heavier. We're joining 12# and 16# to 80# "bite" tippets for toothy fish, a similar jump in leader size. Haven't tried it with 6x to 40#, but for bite tippets we also us back-to-back Uni Knots when there's such a large disparity.
