Fun vid. Fished shad ONCE as a kid in the Yuba.
Great experience! In more recent years, I have seen big schools of them in Pyramid Lake (the one in So Cal).
Like the stripers, they made it down via the aqueduct.

About 3 years ago, I saw quite a few, near the mouth of the creek. My buddy swears I was seeing things, until last year when there were pictures of them. I hear they're spunky fighters.

Wow!

Looks lot of fun.

I am curious - why are you using a stripping basket?

Cheers,

The stripping basket is for managing my shooting line, since I am mainly using shooting heads for shad fishing. Much easier than holding 70+ feet of shooting line in your fingers or letting it tangle around your feet.
