Bassing the day away

Postby fflutterffly » June 15th, 2009, 4:39 pm

Now I'll be the first to admit that my little pond at Kenny Hahn State Park is not the Bass Capital, but for me it is 10 min from the house, on the way to work and 10 min. from work... That's right in the middle of my commute. So I do what any self respecting fly fishing addict would do, I take my 2wt out at 5:45, hit the pond and start the day with a few little (read tiny) Bass. Todays count was 4 in the AM and 30 on the way home. I couldn't keep them off the fly! What a lark. My question is will these pond technique transfer over to stream or river. (Lower O) I'll be trying it out soon.
Oh the fly: A spent mayfly with a biot body of brown size 18.

Have a great day.

right now I love fishing with my little 2wt so I'm not really throwing anything large. This pond is stocked with nice catfish and there are large Bass. I see their trails in the water every so often and actually have seen them swimming near the edge. One of these days i'll try to pick off the big guys but at the moment it's a blast with the little ones.

Airel, Now your fishing for Bass what's next, Carp. No you already do that. Next thing you’ll be on the beach fishing for halibut and Surf Perch. Oh well whatever tugs on your line. :)
