It is a warning label. It says CAUTION: This rod may lead to an addiction to fly fishing without a reel or fly line. :bananadance:

Just kidding, but it does say not to use it during thunderstorms, do not touch sources of electricity, and do not touch over head wires.

Any idea if they sell the blanks. I may need to build one just to say I have. Probably just need to wrap the ferrules.

Still looks like a great back packing rod.

Alrighty Rick,
Saturday has passed, let's hear your review!! :)

We got to the water around 9AM and I rigged the rod, fished it for a couple of hours but didn't get a bit. Fishing was pretty slow and after figuring out what the fish would go for I caught a few fish on my 4WT. After I caught a few fish they seemed to get wise to the fly and just looked at it and repositioned themselves. I really wanted to catch a fish the the new rod so I switched back to the Tenkara rod and had pretty much the same result as with the fly rod. The fish would look at the EHC but wouldn't take it. I have to say that the Tenkara rods length makes it very easy to get a good drift through any kind of water. I was able to keep 90% of the line off the water, making the fly presentation perfect throughout the drift. The only drawback is that the river was so wide I wasn't able to cover the water bank to bank. Tenkara rods are made for small creeks and streams and the water we fished is not considered small by any means.

Each style of fishing has it's pros and cons. With the conventional rods you have much more reach but on certain sections of water you may not be able to get a good presentation throughout the drift. With the 13' Tenkara rod I was able to get a good presentation but it lacked the ability to cover all the water I wanted to fish. Partly due to the depth of the water. Both in my book will have a place in the fishing I do. I'll try to fish a smaller creek in a couple of weeks if the water temps permit and I'll post another report when that happens.

Nice indepth review there! At least the tenkara is something you can kind of stash away and just bust out once in awhile to switch things up.

Oh yeah, it's so lightweight I'll bring it on every trip. There's nothing to rigging it. A leader with the tippet already attached. Very simple and could be very effective in the right situations.
