seasonal flies

I know this subject has been hashed out before, but humor me. I called a friend last week and the conversation went around to 'what flies do you like for spring and what flies do you like for fall?' I said it really made a difference if you live in the upper north, but he said it doesn't. So again, 10 flies maybe with the sizes.
