On another post a couple of weeks ago , someone showed us his nice collection of reels. I thought I would post my Hardy reels. From top left is a Marquis #7 multiplier , a St. George MK2 3 3/4" with agate guide , the Sunbeam 6/7 , Ultralite Disk LA 5/6 , bottom left a tiny Marquis 2/3 , "The Perfect" with agate guide , LRH Lightweight multiplier , the "Princess" and a "Golden Prince" 7/8. Hardy reels are both fun to collect and fun to fish.

Beautiful collection of fine reels! I had the St George with the agate reel guide, but alas it's on the bottom of the North Platte River, close to Saratoga, WY. Enjoy them!

I fish the LRH Lightweight on a Sage 4wt. , the Ultralite Disk La mostly on a TFO 5wt. , the Sunbeam is my bass reel ; I have floating on one spare spool and sinking line on the other , fished on a TFO 6wt. The "Perfect" has a 5wt. floating line , I use it either on the Sage 4wt or the TFO 5wt. The Princess gets used on my TFO 5wt. The little Marquis 2/3 goes on a 5'9" rod by LL Beam which is 3wt. The Golden Prince and the St. George are as yet unspooled. The St. George is about a 8/9 size , so it will be for steelhead. The Marquis #7 will probably be used for trolling from my kayaks , as it is a multiplier and would be handy to reel up slack line quickly. It will be spooled with a Rio floating 5 or 6wt. ; I haven't really thought about it , I just picked it up.

Here is the "Perfect" in action on a small SE Oregon lake off Hwy. 140 east of Bly,Oregon. His buddy broke off on a 5X leader ,and I just tied back on what was about the 2X butt and ran it right past the area again. It worked.

Sweet looking reels... I love the golden prince.. what a piece of art...

Here is my newest score... Never fished... till today, poor rod was older than me and never got to fish.

That golden prince sure would look nice on her...



I love the reel seat... its one I have never seen before, its got like some type of internal bungie device... so to release it all you do is pull on the back piece... * 70's color also.

THe rod is a Heddon Pal 8'5 about a 6/7 wt.... that golden prince would fit on her nicely.


Im still trying to sell a number of these little clones... anyone?

Funny story about the "Golden Prince". I bought it about 4 years ago from Jim Adams at Adams Angling. Jim is mostly a used sporting book dealer , but also sells Hardy rods and reels , plus collectiable bamboo and other vintage gear. He puts out a small catalog several times a year of books , and now a catalog of rods and reels. When I get the rods and reels catalog , I scan it for any good deals. I bought at least four or five reels from him , and back in the 90's , archery books. I saw the "Golden Prince" listed , new and in the box, never used with two spare spools , also in their boxes still wrapped in the paper that Hardy uses. No dust got under my feet until I got Jim on the phone and ordered them. Price? Seems like around $170 , but it has been awhile , I have slept since then.The "Golden Prince" is numbered , and I have a low number. You see them on Ebay every so often ; apparently they had several runs , or certainly numbers that go higher then mine. I have a half dozen or so sources , but the rule is , if it is not too beat up , and you want it , don't wait. Too often , the next day it's sold. Here are some of my Fin-Nor reels , they are also reels that I collect. Not shown is a Fin-Nor Ahab 810 I just picked up on Ebay , new , in the box. I have a Penn 4 International coming , when it shows up , I'll take a picture of the Penn 1.5 , the 2.5 , and the 4 and post.

Quick picture , then back in the lake. I love catching trout , but raraly eat them. Saltwater fish are another story. Raw , ceviche ,broiled , smoked ; I love saltwater fish , but trout taste too bland.
