I like the Infinity reel seat. it seems to show a bit more of the reel seat insert and that's what I want to see that in a custom build.

I voted for the last one as I prefer the more open, cleaner look. Do these type of seats have any problem with the wood insert staying wet when you inadvertantly, or intentionally, get the reel and insert wet--ie, dunked in the water? Seems like water would get between the metal and the insert.

All look okay to me, but I'm not real fond of #1. Guess I'm old school and like the old plain ones best though.

Mike

I have built a few rods with the Window Fly Seats and I do not have a problem with them getting wet. I do put a extra coat of spar varnish on the insert once it is installed just to be safe.

I chose the infinity but that's only because the rod isn't for me. Now if it were for me I'd choose the braided cuz I like the crazier look of it. All are beautiful choices though.

Braided. Cuz I likes it. :D
How do you tie the fly to your hooks without killing them with the thread? I keep cutting them in half.

I voted for "window". My vote is tainted by my preferences towards more traditional aesthetics. None are "traditional", but I think the window style is close to what G Loomis and others use. And yes, I'm a boring fuddy duddy. :bananadance:

I too voted window. I'm not voting for more traditional looks but because I just dig the more simplistic look over the stuff that's a little overdone. I guess I view my rods more as tools as pieces of art. Probably because I can't afford the nice ones!

I like the Infinity with dark wood
