Salty Dog has spoken. With an endorsement like that, I'd certainly give the gpx a shot.
I have a GP, Bugati, and the lowest model, a topwater. All these are great for freshwater. The reels are a bit heavier than some, but frankly, I didn't notice that being a problem. I sometimes think flyfishers get wrapped around the axle thinking they have to own the lightest of everything and that their reels should weigh 1/4 ounce.
(Unless you're using it for backpacking, then every ounce counts)
