Scientific Anglers XPS Flylines

Those rascals at MRFC are at it again. They are selling out the 2009 SA Mastery XPS lines in DT and WF. This is another good line for those fast action rods or where you are looking for a line about 1/2 line weight heavier than normal. I've had several of these lines and they are nice and shoot well. I especially like them on my 5 and 6 weight rods where I'm making longer casts and throwing streamers.

FWIW - I have the SA Mastery - Trout line, and it is severely cracked after just 1 year of fishing. Despite their promise to replace it, all contact stopped, and it looks like they changed their mind on the customer service end.

I won't be buying a SA line again.

Sorry about your experience with the Trout line. I've not used those but have 2 of the XPS lines and have not had a problem, plus I have used Ultra 4 lines and their shooting heads with no problems either. Hope they respond to you. Customer service is pretty importnt--especially in this economy.

Those MRFC guys are killin' me. How do they expect a fella to save any rainy day money.

Gonna pick a nit here and say, Midger, I think you have the XPS and GPX mixed up. The GPX is a 1/2 size heavier. The XPS should be true to the wt. rating.

I had a couple XPS lines and thought they were very good lines. Very little, to no memory, and cast great. I really liked it on my small creek rods.

You are absolutely correct. The GPS is the heavier line. mea culpa.

Both are good lines (GPS and XPS).
