You can count me in. I enjoy this site and appreciate the work it takes to keep it going. Creating a custom rod seems like a great way to honor the effort.

Have 46 forum members at this time.

Sent a Email to winston about a OG winston tube and this is what I got back:

Hi Jon,

> Thanks for your email. I'm sorry but since we discontinued the rod 2 years
> we no longer have any bags or tubes. I really don't know where you can
> find such a tube. Our policy prevents me from disclosing our vendor.

> Winston Rod

So it looks like a winston tube is out.

Hey Jon,

I like the look of the tubes here: REC Tubes

which you posted earlier. Also, I found these: Landmark Flyrod Tubes of which I think the Olympic in Forest Green would be slick.
How do you tie the fly to your hooks without killing them with the thread? I keep cutting them in half.

The nice thing about REC tubes is, you have a choice of hardware. They have some fancy schmancy stuff, that is a few notches above your normal aluminum tubes. They can even engrave the cap if you like.

I think a REC tube in Moss green with caps that match the color of the trim bands would be awesome custom look. Engrave the top to finish it off.

Yeah, that moss green is sweet, I just thought I would not match the Winston green as well. Nice tubes from REC though.

Jon,
I use those types of cases all the time to keep my rods rigged so I can hit the stream quickly. My favorite is a double rod one that allows me to keep a rod set up for midge fishing and another heavier rod set up for streamer fishing. These are also great when drift fishing as they protect the rods and still make them readily available.

You can get singles as well like the one in Craig's response to the thread. I have a single Clear Creek for rods up to 9 feet long, a double DB Dun for two rods up to 9 feet long, and a double Clear Creek for rods up to 10 feet long. I rarely store the rods I keep in these carriers in a tube, as they are go to rods that I keep rigged for my trips.

For those interested in this type of tubes, STP is selling some now, but their's are for breaking down into 4 piece sections and only for rods up to 9 feet long--wouldn't work for Craig's 10 footer. Angler's Workshop does carry the 10 footers though.

http://www.flyfishingaddicts.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=2500

Will start the rod once I get back from fishing this weekend. We still ned to make some

The final total is in:
Would like to thank the "Mystery" vendor for the rod tube that each of you should vote on for name or logo to put on the tube. SEE POST:http://www.flyfishingaddicts.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=2500
Too Flybob for the offer to make a rod sock for the build.
And to flyaddict (Mark) for selling us the blank at a great price.

A total minus Bob and a vendor that will put us at 47 forum members that have agreed to donate.
GREAT JOB GUYS/GALS!!!!
$120.78 Grand total for parts
$ 12.95 for shipping.
$185.00 for Winston WT 10' 4wt 3 piece rod blank.
$ 10.00 for shipping the rod to Craig. Or would someone in this group like to
hand delivery the rod to Craig that would be great as well.
$328.73 GRAND TOTAL

Grand total that each of you should pay is a total of: Are you ready?
.
.
.
.

.
A whopping $6.9942553191489361702127659574468
Cost of Build .47 cents :bananadance: As a side note this is cheapest I have ever charged somebody to build a rod.
That is how we come up with a grand total of $7.00 per person for the build.
If you guys do want to send more then $7.00 I will make a group purchase of Flys from THe Fly Stop see link: http://www.theflystop.com
