Where to fish in Vegas?!?!?!

For topics that don't seem to have a home elsewhere.

Where to fish in Vegas?!?!?!

Postby Sasha » October 15th, 2009, 6:46 pm

Alright you clowns I am going to be going through fishing withdrawals here soon. You see for my new job they have me training down here in Vegas 5 days a week. This does not sound so bad right? Well you are wrong; it isn't only for a week or two. I will be in Vegas every week (except the weeks of Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New years) until mid JAN. So where the * can I go catch some fish in this desert hole(not carp)

Lake Mead and Willow Beach below Hoover Dam. Trout stripers and carp, plus bluegill and LMB @ Lake Mead. They have a fishing pier @ Willow Beach and I'm sure lake Mead has plenty of ammenities and shore access. May need a boat to get to the stripers with a fly (IDK) but that's not necessarily true. As a former bait chucker I used to catch lots of stripers from shore in both places.

Carp are the easiest by all means there.

Thanks guys! I don't have any fishing stuff with me now but I might just have to do some recon for the future.

Can't miss it off the 15 as you're getting into town from the South.

I heard a rumor that the Hooters casino has a trout stream running through the casino. It may just be a rumor that I started but it couldn't hurt to check it out!

Sasha,
Too bad you're not into carp. I know of a 1/2 acre koi pond and these are monsters! :o :o Can't tell you where unless it's a pm. Shhhhhhhh, Randy reads this forum too. He's already thrashed the pond in Laughlin!!!  Whoops, I think I blew it!!!!!!   09er

Nice....... Maybe I should bring my fish tank and set it up in my room. Then I could fish from the comfort of my own room ;)

I had a long talk with the manager of the fly shop at Bass Pro and he pointed me in the direction of the northwest shoreline of Lake Mead for stripers. He said to try blue and white decievers on boils. There is also another flyshop somewhere in Vegas that may be able to hook you up with a guide.
