However, there is a problem... please someone guess 2 inches!

Its pooring in western Kern county... the Kern area mountains are going to get LOTS of snow. :bananadance:

Feels much colder today than yesterday.

IDK Bill when I woke up this morning to clear skies (in a sense) I didn't see ANY new snow accumulations on Breckenridge which means most other places aren't seening any snow. I'm too lazy to get in on this but unless the temps drop snow accumulations below 7k aren't seeming to good in my opinion.

I hear they have had white out type conditions at Shaver Lake up this way since about noon today. :D
How do you tie the fly to your hooks without killing them with the thread? I keep cutting them in half.

Here's a shot at 5:00 PM today--Monday, Jan 18th. It's snowing in Big Bear which is about 1000 feet higher than Running Springs. We've been getting "Snrain". A bit accumulates, then is washed away. From what the weather folks say, we have 3 more storms headed this way with the major snow coming later tonight and in earnest Wednesday and Thursday. I heard Tahoe is expecting upwards of 10 feet of new snow which makes my daughter happy as she's planning on skiing there starting Saturday.

I'll leave the input to the contest open until 9:00 PM tonight, then we'll see who wins it. I'm hoping for another 5+ feet as the fish really need the snow. Rain washes away too quickly an doesn't provide much replenishment of the water tables.

Hey Mike, just saw this, what a great contest, darn right nice of you!

I will take 46.5, only because everything else is taken!

Round 2 just moved in off the ocean. The radar looks pretty busy, and this is supposed to be the little one!

Round 2 has hit my area. I worked today until 12:30 and left for home when it started snowing in Crestline. We are now experiencing thunder/lightening snow showers and it has been coming down pretty good since 12:30. Outside temperature is 31 degrees, estimated snow level is 4000 feet from reports I have received from others at lower levels. Here's the shot at 1:30 today:

Here's another shot of the LC--you can see how hard it is snowing in the picture.

BTW, snow is at 3 inches now, but a rain could change that back to zero before Friday at 6:00.

Guess I better start tying flies, as the game's begun--and I need more microbuggers anyway! :D :bananadance: :bananadance:

If the weather that hit San Clemente this afternoon continues up to the mountains, watch out. We had a tornado warning just as a bunch of 6th grade students were heading towards my classroom. The wind was howling and the rain was moving sideways;I have no idea how to judge the speed but it was like sticking your head out of your car while driving on the freeway and the rain felt like pebbles. These 11 and 12 year old kids could not make headway and were leaning into the wind slipping, sliding, and going backwards, the whole time getting soaked. It was hard to teach anything because both me and the kids couldn't quit looking outside as the rain whipped and the rain exploded on the ground.

Hi Mike,
I remember you had a pix of the LC last year with white stuff all over it. How much was that? 09er

Heading down and staying at the in-laws. Can't miss work and the 3rd wave is starting.

Round 3 rolled in here with heavy winds, and broke a limb from one of our araucaria trees. It's pouring now!

Keep safe, Curtis.

We've had some pretty heavy rain here in Los Angeles for the past 2 hours with no signs of letting up, the temps are in the low 50's. I really hope it's snowing up your way Migder, esp in the way of 43.5" by Friday evening. LET IT SNOW... LET IT SNOW... LET IT SNOW
