I just want to look back and smile at all the great memories that nobody but those of us on this board ever understand.

Well, I usually don't ask for much, and I try to keep my expectations in check, I just don't want to ever get jaded about the sport.

However this thread really has me thinking, for now I have a few of things I would like to do this year:

1. Have a really good day on the LO, and see the MAGIC HATCH.

2. Tube Lake 3 at 11,000 feet during the opener, can you say HONKIN GOLD!

3. Continue to share my experiences with all the great people I have met and hope to meet on the boards.

4. Oh yeah, NOT GETTING HURT ANYMORE!

My #1 Goal every year:
Getting time outside to enjoy the great outdoors with friends. Catching fish is the bonus...

If things work out, I will be spending a lot of time in Mammoth in the late spring and early summer. While the flowing water will obviously be targeted, I'd like to get get out in the float tube that I bought a year ago and have only used once.
Since quick trips of just a few hours will be possible, I'd like to get the boys back into fishing. All day trips away from friends and video games makes the teenagers groan, but I should be able to get them out for some shorter trips, like an evening hatch somewhere.
We put off plans to visit Glacier for backpacking, hiking and fishing the last two years in a row. Hopefully this summer will be the "third time's a charm" year that we make it.

I would like to visit a handful of new places this year. Mostly stillwater, but some moving too. I'll try and revisit some neglected local haunts. My stripah addiction has put them on the back burner, but this year i'll make an effort to get reacquainted. I will continue to hunt down Moe stripah. LMB later this month. Shad and stripers are just around the corner. Talking about doing Bass-N-fly this year. Possible Lahontan trip in the next couple months. Definitely would like to be on the eastside a few more times. Teach a buddy how to catch fish with a fly rod. Support some conservation/fishy causes.

I'd also like to get comfortable/proficient with a few spey/switch casts. Need to get "my groove back" on casting shooting heads/sinking lines. Buy more gear.

It's a hard-top Samurai that has been babied. It was towed behind an RV most of its life and the owner designed the support utilizing the trailer hitch in the front to lock into the nose of the boat. It's a challenge but easy with two guys. What you don't see are some cool swiveling wheels in the back that facilitate the load up and down. Then they flip to allow for loading into a lake and actual towing (as in down a ramp). The Samurai was not my first consideration but it gets amazing mileage and is so * cute! It needs some possible modifications on the ingnition and carb to perform better at altitude. Bottom line, I needed a 4WD badly. The boat was an accidental side effect of a Google Alert on Craigslist. Happy accident. It came with a 10hp Honda 4 stroke outboard too. Having a fishmobile is critical and I have struggled for over a year with a city car. Not what a black diamond cat like me is proud of...

Soo far, the only big item on my "Hit List" is going after King Salmon in the Bays of Oregon in May.. My First time targeting Pacific Salmon in the Salt... i was invited by Rob Russell from Angler's Book Supply in Eugene to fish with him for the Salmon.... I am highly Jazzed to get out on Rob's Boat to target them Chinooks....

Another Item of Interest in hopefully casting to, Hooking and Landing My 1st. Sailfish whilst in Loreto, Baja this June.... if they're around then...

Of Course the day trips aboard the Sea Jay out to the Channel islands are always full of the Hope to land my first 10 lb. plus Bonito.....

The planned Mako trip with Lee Baermann going out with Conway Bowman looks like it'll be a Go ahead this Summer... ( i got my new 14 & 16 wt. rigs already to join Battle...)

Contact ColoradoXJ on our forum and ask him about mods for better altitude performance. I do believe he had a modified Samurai in Denver before he moved to Jeeps. He should know a bit about that vehicle.
