I saw something cool on Putah Creek a while back when I visited it for a day just to check things out. They had done surveys and marked the redds with neon pink strips to mark most of the reds which gave me a visual of exactly where the redds were. I thought that this was cool. I don't know how effective this would be if the fish constantly move around and make new spawning beds. It may not be efficient unless the fish use the same areas over and over.
