Opener????

Postby Rockstar Fisherman » April 23rd, 2010, 12:59 am

Okay, okay, so we're all fly fisherman who are granted with fishing passes year round to some areas. BUT, who is fishing the opener, you know bait dunkers, crowds and all??? I know I am on Sunday, wish I was on Saturday as well though.

Oh, and no need to say WHERE you will be, I'm just curious as to how ambitious some of us are to some closed waters as soon as they open.

The traditional opener doesn't mean much to me up here since many waters are open year around. Besides, right now, the Central Valley rivers (those that haven't started AG water deliveries) are at their prime!!!!

Mike,

My rod is broken and in the repair clinic. That's my excuse and I’m sticking to it. But even if it were fixed, I still would not deal with the crowds during the Opener. As an official trout bum with out a job I can fish any time I want. Weekends are not my favorite time to fish if I can avoid them. Have fun up there and leave a few for me!

Switch wrists and go for it!

I'll be in the bass boat somewhere on a Central Valley lake.

395 is a madhouse already! Instead, we are taking the kayaks out in search of halibut.

I'm staying in don't and don't plan on wetting a line. Way too many folks out and about trying to find some water to fish. I don't care to battle the crowds.

Hopefully I'l do some warmwater fishing tomorrow, but no plans on me caring about the opener.
Fishing is the most wonderful thing I do in my life, barring some equally delightful unmentionables.

I peeked at the Crowley cam off and on today. Nothing but traffic. Totally blows my premise for the enjoyment of fly fishing.

Will be if I can. I've been fishing exactly four times since returning from Bishop in Jan. Caught one 8-inch crappie. Period. If I can get on some water, then I will. I don't know that I will be hitting the newly opened waters though. That'll depend on a few things. Might use it as an excuse to scout conditions up high as I've a camping trip a few weeks after. Be good to check the snow conditions.
How do you tie the fly to your hooks without killing them with the thread? I keep cutting them in half.
