Hello from the War

Postby thtsarumr » May 10th, 2010, 12:59 pm

FFA,

I just wanted to say a quick hello to everyone and wish you all a safe and fishful season. A special thanks goes out to all of you who have sent letters and care packages. Our mail is just slightly slower than the Pony Express so I don't want to give actual names for fear of missing someone. Things have been a rollercoaster out here. Some days it is all quiet on the western front and the next we are getting the crap bombed out of us. My team and I are all staying safe as possible.

I got my fly tying stuff in a few days ago and I am sacrificing sleep to restock my *. I don't know when the next time I'll be able to get back on the forum but just know that I can't wait to fish again with the riff raff willing to tag along with me. You guys are awesome.

Blu mentioned in an email that he was short of brass or tungsten beads size 10 and smaller, head cement or zap a gap (his bottle came open). That being said, it's a long time until November.
His address is:

Email address is: joseph.felix@afg.usmc.mil

I am sure he would be stoked to hear from you.

FFA,

I just wanted to say a quick hello and update you all on how things are going. First off, a huge THANK YOU to all of you who have been keeping in touch with emails and letters and care packages. It really means a lot and it sure gives me something to look forward to.

Last month was a tough month. I think we set a record (not a good thing) for lives lost in this terrible place. Something like 120 were killed and God knows how many wounded. Things are pretty tough out here. We are constantly getting mortar and rocket attacks on a daily basis. Luckily me and my team have managed to remain out of harms way and with any luck we will continue to do so for the last half of this tour. I got word about a week ago that our departure date has been moved up so hopefully I will be back stateside at the end of September. I will post more updates as soon as I get more word. I am unable to post pics or else I would share some pretty cool stuff with you all. Sorry they aren't as beautiful the pics that Jon and the boys from the DTW Opener posted. Maybe I can figure out a way to get them to those of you how I email on a regular basis. The days are getting hotter and the dust is getting dustier. We have set up 2 airfields so far and hopefully this will be our last.

My wife finds out Monday on whether we are expecting a new baby boy or girl. I will update you all on that as soon as I find out. Well I hope you all are getting in some really good fishing time and Hopefully we will be wetting a line together soon.
