8 Days, 1 fish

Postby rayfound » May 14th, 2010, 8:21 am

Well, just got back from Canada, weather turned nasty (Windy, cold + some rain/snow), and fishing was a bust. Still had a great time visiting Family and the like. Did manage one Bass fishing a white Crystal Bugger with an olive marabou Wing. They were actually out of season and I was fishing for bluegill, rock bass, etc... (whatever would grab my line).

Apparently I was a couple weeks too early for the Gar up in the shallows of the bay... which would have been amazing.

Being ill-prepared for ill-natured weather, I ended up spending more time inside.

Sauble Falls (I fished below the falls, but wanted to fish the pools in the falls... but they are closed :( ):

My one Bass ( a nice one... though an 8wt takes some of the fun out of it):

Too bad the weather turned nasty and the fishing was a bust. But hey, you got to spend more time with the family, that sure beats some hotel. Nice bass though.

Gar in Canada???? Never would've guessed that, I always thought they were a freshwater fish that loves hot humid nasty climates and warm water.

Many different species... the Alligator Gar is what you're thinking of, but in more northern Attitudes (I caught one in Indiana as a kid), they have "Gar-Pike".

Thanks Ray, she sure looks nice, I mean the gar, that's right, the gar very cool

But seriously thanks for enlightening me on this, like I said I never would've guessed, and those ones actually have some nice coloration.

Good looking bass. One bass is better than no fish ;)

Shame the fish didn't cooperate more, but I'm sure the scenery more than made up for it. Welcome back.
