The Last Days of Dean

Postby hip » May 14th, 2010, 3:18 pm

End of an era?

I'm sure a lot of you have come to know and love Dean aka Flyjunkie.
Well today I just happened to do a little bike trek out to the shop (Fishermans Spot) to get some new backing on my Tuna reel for the upcoming offshore season.

Dean informs me he's moving on to new adventures and today was his second to last day at the shop.
I've been friends with Dean since his Malibu Tackle days.

To tell you the truth If it was anyone else but Dean putting on my backing and rigging my knots I would have done it myself because I would not trust anyone else to do it.

Yeah for Trout stuff no big whoop but this is my Tuna reel so the knots will be tested.

Anyway I wish the Deanster the best. His sense of humor although strange ;) and expertise will be missed  jon

The Deanster and I having fun back in the day and c'mon he's rocking old school Vans before they were oldschool

Very chill :D jon

Thanks for sharing those memories Jon.
I'm quite sure Dean (flyjunkie) will be fine where ever he may go. Hope you all keep us all posted on where the cool cat lands

:( Sorry to hear that. Does this mean you will have more time to fish, Dean? Godspeed in whatever you decide to do.

I only met Dean once, but he was gracious, humorous, and easy going. His robo-pheasant tail is a trout killer.

Good luck on the new adventure, Dean. I'm going to miss seeing you at the Spot whenever I stop by after my trips to the SM beaches.

Gee Thanks Everyone... Yeah, I'm moving on to another Job.. While it will not have any flyfishing, it is a Most interesting Place..

The Supply Sargent
Army/Navy Store in Burbank on Victory Blvd, just up from Magnolia....
I was Hired the Other day as their Assistant Store Manager or just assistant Manager..

It involves more $$ per hour and as much as I love helping all of you with Your Flyfishing needs and hearing about your adventures on the Water, I had to take the Job because of the increased $$$ Plan & simple....

Hopefully I'll be able to fish more, but we will see...

Thanks for the Well wishes everyone and thanks for the Cool Photos Hip & Benny......

Dean congrats on the new job! Until I read your post I would have bet you were trading in those Vans for sandals and heading south of the boarder. 8-)

Dean, you may no longer be part of the Spot but you'll always be part of our fly fishing community. Congrats on the new position. One day I hope we'll get chance to throw a fly together again.

Hey Dean, Congrats, the Supply Seargent is a cool store, one of my favorites to browse, and it's close to home, and I'll drop by to say hi. Now you can jam their rope winder....
