Favorite streamside accessory?

Postby fly addict » May 24th, 2010, 8:08 am

Just intreasted in what people like to have with them on the water. What would be your favorite streamside accessory? Something you don’t want to be on the water with out.

I’ll start it off by saying the Ketchum Release tool is something that I find I use on every fish I catch. It works great when it comes to releasing a fish with out having to touch them. In the cold winter months your hands will stay warmer if you don’t have to handle a fish. It is also better for the fish if you don’t have to handle it to let it go. You also do not need to carry a net. It is the fastest way I have found to release a fish hassle free and get back to fishing.

My favorite accessory is going with someone who is a better fisherman then I am and who know all kinds of secret spots.

My new favorite accessory is the little TyRite spring loaded hook holder that allows me to thread the eye and then twist the tippet to make the knot. It has improved tying on flies 100%.....especially the little guys.

Jim,

That is a great accessory. I wonder who gave you that tip?

My Simms wading staff. I won't enter the water without it.

In the slick Sierra rivers my favorite accessory is my Folstaff wading staff. It folds up to fit in a holster on my wading belt, and allows me to reach spots I would otherwise not dare to wade. It sure makes river crossings easier too.

A stringer . That's just so wrong!!! Sorry, I had to. My mini grabber. Saves tons of time fiddling with tying on a fly. On larger streams: My wading staff.

A camera so you guys don't call BS. And a pale ale if at all possible. Oh, and reading glasses as I can't see diddly squat at close range!

Scotch for the stream, cigar for the campsite.

I've been known to bring along a can of PBR for lunch as well. The good stuff stays in the cooler at the campsite.

If I were still a bait chukkar this would be mine :D

Now realistically, my water filter drinking bottle and BB split shots. I say the split shots cuz too many times lately I'v only had like 1 it stressed me out knowing the consequence of losing it.
