Give your fishing buddy a big hug

Postby FlyinFish » September 29th, 2010, 11:03 am

Hey boys, to share some personal news, I just lost one of my best fishing buddies this passed weekend. We fished the salt together, mostly on longer trips. It's really saying something when you can spend 8 days on a 100 foot boat with someone and be smiling and laughing nonstop from start to finish. He fished the way I did and enjoyed his time the way I did on the boat. No trip will ever be the same without him.

So, next time you see your fishing buddy, give him a big ole hug and tell him how much you love fishing with him.

C'mon, Bob, do it. Get up, walk over to Mark's cube, Mark, get out of your chair, and you boys give each other a big hug! :grouphug: haha. That's right, Andi, I want you to bear hug your little buddy Ryan next time you see him.

Seriously though guys, ever since I've found friends to fish with, I don't even want to go out alone anymore. It's just so much more fun to share the experience. Tell your fishing buddy how much he/she means to you today!

Thanks to Bob, Mark, Ray, Justin, Andi, Bill, and Ryan for all the good times on the streams and in the surf! It just wouldn't be the same without you guys!

Sorry to hear for your loss, tough to lose friends. I am truly grateful for all those that I have gone out and fished with on this forum and from a few select other forums. Thanks for memories and some serious learning experiences. I always have a great time out with you guys.

Condolences to you, and your friend's family. I've been down this road, and it certainly is a painful one.

To fishing buddies. :grouphug:

This is terrible to hear. My heart goes out to you. Don't waste time, email a friend and thanking and giving them a hug. Great advice.

Our time here is so short and for many, ends sooner then we would wish. You make a very good point about letting those whom you spent such quality time (starting with our families) know just how much they mean to us. You will think of your friend and the good times as you watch the sun dip the horizon and flash green momentarily when you go to sea again.

I have been blessed with many good friends that I met here and on another forum that have made entering a new chapter in my life (retirement from the FD) bearable. I have enjoyed countless days of challenge, instruction, teaching moments built on failure and success and just quality time with good people in places that make you smile. You all know who you are and I thank you for the time on the water.

Hmmmm...Sounds like a great idea...But I wonder what the cooler talk is going to sound like in the next couple of weeks...."Did you see those two guys...And they tell their wives that they go fishing...Yeah Right..."

Seriously, I am sorry you lost your friend. I cherish the times I get to spend on the water with friends. You will always remember and toast him when you are out on the waters...

The best times are those spent on the water in the company of like-minded friends. My condolences.

Arvin, sorry to hear about the loss of your fishing buddy, and my prayers go out to you and his family.

You are absolutely correct about fishing with friends, that PB I caught a few weeks ago would have meant a lot more to me had Mark been there to share the event, not to mention I really could have used his help in landing it.

I really feel that this cadre of addicts are one BIG support group, and weather we have met or fished together or not, we all share each other's joy's, successes and pains.

Your buddy WILL ALWAYS be with you on your salt trips!
