Annual Beginners Fly Tying Class

Postby Jim T » October 27th, 2010, 4:14 pm

The annual fly tying class hosted by the Long Beach Casting Club started last night (orientation). It'll continue for 12 weeks. It features a different guest tier each week and covers a wide variety of flies and techniques.

The class is free with an optional tying manual detailing each week's flies and materials available for $10. Participants supply their own tools and materials.

It's a great way for beginners to learn fly tying and for more experienced tiers to brush up on their techniques.

Classes are Tuesday at 7pm and generally run 1-1/2 to 2 hours. Attend as many or few as you like. Club membership is not required.

The classes are held at the LBCC clubhouse located on East 7th St in Long Beach between Santiago and Federation Dr just west of PCH.

This is an awesome class just for any of you interested. I'm pretty sure just about anyone will learn a few tricks from this class. And for new tiers it is indispensable!
"The real truth is, convincing a fish to strike is like playing string with a cat: the exact size and color of the string is probably less important than how you wiggle it. And little cats are easier to fool than big ones." - John Gierach
