Where to go?

Postby WanderingBlues » December 12th, 2010, 7:19 pm

Traditionally, we like to head to Zion NP, in Utah, after Xmas and spend a few days just relaxing. Today, my wife said "You should bring your flyfishing gear..." Anyway, does anyone have any feedback for anything in the area? I've heard that the Virgin River is not real good, but we are willing to drive some. Thanks and Happy Holidays.

Hey Curtis,
First off what an awesome wifey you have there "bring your fly fishing gear" sheesh!! man good score

I have fished Kolob Res. once and there is some hogs in there, prolly best from a tube but you can shore fish easily also. Kolob is right outside of Zion. I would go back in a heart beat given a chance.

Just my 2c

Curtis, what do you mean that the Virgin River is not that good??? To me it sounds just like one of your locals, so if you're there you might as well... Now I wouldn't plan a trip there specifically, but like I said, if you're already there, why not. A trout caught is a day fullfilled, and I'm sure it's surrounded by beautiful scenery.

some nice creek options about 2 hours or so from Zion.... went there in summer and had a lot of fun fishing some of these waters, beautiful area too. Real nice and informative at the fly shop too, give em a call and they can give you some good insight.
