Orvis Battenkill Barstock. Nice reel and when on sale at Orvis they are under $100. The Battenkill is also under $79 all the time.

Keep snooping around e bay sooner or later you will find what you need at a great price. One can still find older lamson, Ross in smaller sizes in great shape for the price range you are looking for.

If you can wait, we should be seeing some new models coming out in a month or so. That means you might find a new, affordable reel, or some good reels on closeout. I also think if you wait, and go to The Fly Fishing Show down in Pasadena, you might find a deal.....maybe. It was announced that Sage will be back at the show. Just that announcement alone, should have some positive effects for the show.

Alpha series
http://www.allenflyfishing.com/alpha1.html

A lot of times you want the carpet to match the drapes....same holds true for combos. I guess weight and sealed drag plays a role somewhat if your laying your setup in the water, sand, mud etc.. to snap a photo. The Okuma vashion is a nice reel and you can find them for $44.95. Just locate a big 5 store, they list the whole reel for the price of the spool! Ooops! Life has an honor system though and we as fly fisher men & women shall follow our code of conduct, or just get a really nice deal on a really nice reel!

this is a tad over your limit but this will appeal to those who like simple reels but made of hardy material. cortland is releasing a new click and pawl reel made of machined alumininimum. reminds me of the discontinued redington CT series.

Also a bit over your price line at $119, the Lamson Konic 1.5 (rated for 3-4 wt rods) is an awesome reel. It is very light and I've been told that it has pretty much the same drag system as some of their more expensive reels. I personally own 2 and plan on getting another.

I second Mark's suggestion, I have a I, II, & III with extra fully lined spools for all three!

Because they are machined from barstock, the tend to be a bit tougher than cast, I am pretty rough on mine, and have yet to knock a spool out of round, something I did with regularity on lesser makes.

Put the extra line in your left pocket, the running line in left hand and put $100 in your right pocket.

*, I'd chop off the reel seat and I'd cut the line down to 60 ft or even less and just loop-loop it somehow to rod butt.

Check out the Hobbs Creek Large Arbor reel found at Bass Pro Shops - listed for $39.99 it's well within your price range

I can't vouch for this one but the specs look interesting. Personally, I lean towards the more expensive reels made by Galvan, like the Torque, since I expect to handle some big hard pulling trout (to 24" on 5X -6X tippet) my 3wt and 4wt setups and, when I hook up something large, I want a highly adjustable very smooth drag.

I second the Lamson Konic. It's a dang nice reel for the $$$.

I've even considered matching a new Echo Carbon 3wt with a simple Pleuger Medalist 1492. It isn't going to turn any heads, but it will store the line for cheap.
