Bad weather induced hallucinations

Postby FlyinFish » December 22nd, 2010, 7:23 pm

So I'm sitting here moping around in this crap weather knowing I won't be fishing for a while, especially with holiday travel and all. The withdrawal is setting in already...

True Grit (the original, obviously) comes on TCM. Sweet, I've never seen it...

A ways into it I'm feeling the strain of the dark weather and the rain dripping outside taunting me... holy crap I must be losing it... I'm starting to see images of HOT CREEK! I blink my eyes and try to clear my vision and there it is clear as day, Hot Creek on the tube gently curving through the canyon. I can see myself walking across the little flat grassy patch that the trail leads to... Then I realize, that's not me! That's John Wayne! And I ain't seeing things, that's Hot Creek!

A comforting temptation of a late winter season that is soon to come. Until then, Looks like there may be a window for some surf action Fri morning...

How cool would it be to have that shack on Hot Creek. Be careful about keeping out of the bacteria laden water if you go friday, Arvin. I looked at it today, and the surf has dropped a bit, but it's still chocolate.

I am an old western fanatic and a lot of the fun is recognizing locales used in filming. And, speaking of True Grit, I'm going to see the new one tomorrow.

The rest was filmed between Durango and Teluride. Nice shots of Hot Creek.

movies or not, you got bit by the Hot Creek Bug! LOL!

I have it to, I tell myself I HATE the place, but every time I am in area I am drawn in by some magnetic force! HA HA HA!

It is good to know that I am not the only one!

Happy Holidays Arvin!

Haha, I just saw the original movie today and right before John stepped into Hot Creek I let out a, "Noooo" and my Mom had a good laugh. See wading HC hasn't done too much damage, if John Wayne did it.
