2010 Highlights

Postby Rockstar Fisherman » December 30th, 2010, 12:22 am

Well this was a very emotional year and I can say I fished the day it started and almost the day it ended. I went to several new places, had 2 new PB's, (13" golden and 19.5" brookie) and accomplished a 14,000ft. peak during one of the trips.

Here are my highlights

1st fish of the year, a nice 15" brown!

Fishing with Blu before he left to Afghanistan

His big boy I netted and he dropped before I could get a picture. Jim did get one though.

My extremely tiring trip with Eric in early may to BrookieCutt Lake.

I didn't fish too much this year because I spent the 1st half saving up for my trip to Europe to see one of my best friends and my fly fishing mentor Zee in the home land, Czech Republic.
Image

The first fish I caught over there was a brand new species for me.... A grayling, which was surpisingly stinky!

Here is Zee's Dad's backyard on the Morovice River.

Now, here's another epicly tiring trip I took with Tech and his brother Jeff. Fishing was great though!

Thunderstorms scared the crap out of me but also made for some amazing shots!

A month later I hiked up Mt. Langely

And now some fishing with my brother David in August. Here's my new PB brookie 19.5"
Image
And my brother's first fish on a fly, also a new PB for him.
Image
Now here's my second biggest accomplishment of the year, on a day hike from our camp in the Cottonwood Lakes Basin my bro and I hiked up Mt. Langley 14,042ft. elevation!!! Here it is from our campsite as we set out to conquer it.

Finally Blu came home and we had a great time celebrating his return! Here's Stanbery with a "baby" brown on the EW

Getting ready for the big cold skunk, but it was a beautiful day.

Brookies spawing

Blu and I nearly 9 months after he left and returned.

And heres' my last day of fishing which was only 30 minutes long but ended with 5 fish to hand. You can view it here if you need a recap of it.

I don't fish as often as I'd like or as often as many of you do, BUT, I get my time's worth when I'm out on the water and love every minute of it. I enjoyed spending time with all of you this year on and even of the water i.e. the Rendevous, Blu's party and the night Eric and I had at PapaSequoia's house with him and Midger. Also I did do some spin fishing with my Dad for Steelhead which was off the hook again on the Rogue River near Grant's Pass, OR.

Can't wait to see what 2011 will bring me. I'm still hoping for that 18" brown, a real trophy golden, and a striper on a fly, oh and that someday before I die Pyramid Lake will happen.

See you in 2011!

And a good year for you too, Mike. Very cool. Good times over on the LO last month.

Oh yeah, after talking to you about Walker Pass, I took that route back to Fresno from Bishop. I loved that drive. Thanks. :D
How do you tie the fly to your hooks without killing them with the thread? I keep cutting them in half.

Wow, another outstanding recap of this years adventures on the fly. Some pretty dramatic skies in some of your images, I'm really digging the dramatic clouds and the scenery in these two, awesome stuff Mike. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Mike, Flippin Fantastic post!

What a great year.

Gawd I love that view from Langley!
I just wish these old bones could still do that stuff...

Here's to good times in 2011, "May the fish be with you!"

Hope we get a chance to fish together.

Whoa! :o Even in my youth, I don't think I could have made that hike.

Maybe you didn't fish a lot of days, but it sure looks like you made the most of them.
