It's Show Time

Postby briansII » January 5th, 2011, 1:43 pm

It's the time of year when the outdoor shows ramp up. Years past there were plenty to choose from. This year, only a few.

There is only ONE ISE Show on the west coast this year. It's in Sacramento, and I am planning to attend. There are two The Fly Fishing Shows in Cali. I plan on going to the Pleasanton show. I believe both shows will be better than last years show. For one, the ISE show is the only one on the west coast, so exhibitors don't have to worry about multiple show expenses. Two, I have heard The Fly Fishing Shows will see a lot of the big names again. More manufacturers, seminars, and tiers. I read complaints about last years Pasadena show, so hopefully this year will be better.

Looking forward to fondling some new gear, and picking up some stuff I don't see in my local shops. Also hope to see some folks I don't normally get to see any other time of the year.

Who else plans on going?

I don't plan on attending any fly fishing shows in the near future. The fly fishing show down here in Pasadena is a total waste of money and one's time. That show dropped the ball big time!

I confess that I enjoy these events but most of the time I am out fishing and wind up missing them.

I may sound like a promoter, but I would double check to see the list of exhibitors THIS year. Granted, Pasadena doesn't get as big as some of the other shows, but from what I've heard, it should be a lot better THIS year.

PM'd you.

I will go to Pasadena this year. It's the only game in town, and if nothing else it's a pretty fun social event. Besides Dean is tying again this year, so I can harrass him.

Last year sucked because of the lack of manufacturer support. This year the Marriotts show was canceled partly (from what I've heard) because they decided to support Pasadena instead. It has moved back to the larger hall and is nearly full with exhibitors. If you don't go the only one you're hurting is yourself. Lack of attendance is going to equal no show. Just Sayin'

Bill thanks for the info on Dean tying at the show. Just might have to make it.

Pasadena reasons:
#1 to see dean
#2 socialize with people I know and meet new people
#3 drool factor
#4 Travel destination for vacations
#5 to embarrass myself when I try casting rods.
#6 to support the only game in town
#7 To see Dean
