Fly Reel Sale

Postby NorcalBob » January 5th, 2011, 9:35 pm

Saw this sale announcement at another site I frequent. I know nothing about these reels, but for $48, it might be worth a shot. I'd buy some but I already have a ton of 5/6 sized reels. They look pretty nice, but I really don't know a thing about them

I admit, they look cool!
I'm set on reels in that size range for now too.

They seem to get great reviews from the Wa. forum. I bought an earlier model, but is most likely made by the same manufacturer. It has a tight spot on the outgoing revolution. Not bad, and seems a bit better than when I first got it. I let the owner of Allen know, but I didn't ask for a replacement. The reel was so cheap, he'd probably lose money just in shipping. ;) Very cool looking, and light reel.

Guys.... Justin from Allen is a cool guy. Totally friendly I have traded emails with him tons of times.... I have his Alpha model in a 6wt on my Sage FLI.... It's a nice reel for the money and it's mono block!!! I put my money on the rod and received a great value in the reel... It's quality at a great price.... Chris

I'm considering dropping some cash for a 3/5 Alpha model. After reading about the Allen group across a number of forums, their reels recieve nothing but praise. The Alpha model looks awesome, and if it doesn't meet expectations, then you have only invested a fraction of the money you would otherwise spend on a comparable brand name.

Pretty impressive stuff, I say.

You mean a disc of metal with a few washers and a knob doesn't cost $400 to make and $700 to buy?! Surely it can't be so!
